Day 1: Aiden
Today we worked on just the basic design of our shadowboxes or dioramas. We started with Mr. Grisbee just getting us situated and ready to start, and then we started drawing our ideas on paper. I drew my diorama but decided to work on my shadow box instead, so I drew my shadow box too. (Both pictured below)
I got both done relatively fast, within the first three hours of the day, so I decided to head over to Illustrator to get my project up and running. I made a new illustrator project with 6 artboards, five for the layers, and one for the overview. I started with just basic drawings and things from the internet and ended up with the digital rendering of my shadowbox below:
When this was complete, I took it to Mr. Grisbee and showed him the layers, and he remarked that they were way to complicated/in the wrong places to be cut right, and I had to simplify it. This is what I spent the most rest of my day doing, and I ended up separating it into six layers that were simple enough to be cut and still look good! Image below:
These layers looked good, so I continued on to putting them together onto an overview again, and the final project for today's work came out:
You may be thinking: This looks very similar to the original! Well, to show you the differences, here is a side-by-side view of the two. See if you can tell which one is the new and which is the original!
