Day 3: Ariana

Today was pretty cool. I finished designing both my projects and nearly finished preparing them for laser cutting. As a full day worth of work I'm rather pleased with the result.

The two pictures above are what I had after layering each layer atop another. today I worked on separating the fish and starting the cinderella shadowbox.

the separation of these layers was pretty simple but it was tedious work. I'm still deciding whether I should detail the ocean water or leave it be. As of now, the water looks a tad bit out of place and I think some shadows or some darker splotched would look nice.

This picture is of my final line up for the shadow box. I originally had more layers but the final product would end up too big and chunky so I combined and got rid of a few. One problem area I see is on #8. the small sliver of paper holding the couple atop air is quite worrying. But I need that white area to be clear because in order for the staircase illusion to work I need light to pass through. So I'm not sure how I will fix this. I'll probably have the laser cutter make a mock-up first and decide how I will fix this problem. Other than this one issue I don't think I came across any other problems. Day 3 was a rather productive day.
