Day 4: Ariana

Yesterday I thought I had my final lineup for the shadow box but after hearing opinions from instructor Grisbee I realized there were a couple unsightly bits. The morning was limited because today we went shopping. We were looking for colored paper at Texas art supplies for our dioramas. I found everything I needed, but after the trip I feel like I can't tell blue from yellow anymore. Once we came back I worked on my cinderella shadowbox. I tweaked some bits like adding a frame, removing the bush, fixing the skinny paper problem, and overall fixing any wonky lines and extra bits.

These pictures are what I have and what i'm sending to the printer. I hope to print next week and I've already organized and prepared the pieces for cutting. But not only did I prepare my shadowbox pieces today I also prepared the pieces for my fish

After the shopping trip, I noticed how many different colors and irregular shapes I had. Realizing if I couldn't keep organized, things would get messy very quickly. so when I prepared the pieces for cutting I tried placing them so I knew which wonky shapes belonged to which part of the fish and separating them by color. The white lines are to show which pieces are the same color as another piece not in that same section of the fish. I'll be changing their color and stroke properties just before cutting so I'll know what color to place under the laser. Today's work actually turned out to be what I expected of yesterday, but to be honest, I know yesterday's work was not as prepared as today so I'm glad I took the extra time to tighten up any weak parts.

those are the papers I chose and the foam pieces I cut. I was waiting for a multiple of things today so instead of wasting that time by sitting on my butt, I decided to cut an obnoxious amount of foam slivers. I did a pretty botch job at first and it took painfully long to retrieve one strip, but sire Grisbee came in and told me "The blade is dull" and continued to explain why and changed my blade. And now after correcting my technique that foam board was demolished.
