Day 5: Ariana
Today is a Monday a start of a new week and the day I planned on cutting out my shadowbox pieces. The morning was dedicated to just that. I learned how to use the laser cutter and finally used the foam strips I cut out. I know that lots of other people cut out their designs several times because after putting everything together they wanted to fix or add some things, I spent most of my time editing in illustrator so I could avoid cutting more than necessary. I really think that paid off because after my first draft I think it might as well be my final product.
these pictures are of my layers all cut out before gluing.
this is after I glued them all together. I separated all the layers exept the first layer of leaves, I glued them onto the second layer of leaves, with the foam strips. By separating them the layers become more distinct and it gives off the depth effect.
and here is my shadowbox in front of a light. I realy like how it turned out, I can see the stairs and that wonky shaped pillar fountain thing has the shadow I wanted, and the leaves in the front are detailed but they dont draw too much attention to themselves and you can tell the shadow is the main point of the piece. One thing I don't like is that weird half circle shape stuck on the back of the princes' knee. I'm not too botherd by it and I only just noticed it and i'd rather not redo everything just to get that bloby shape out of the picture.
then during the afternoon I organized my fish and changed the properties a little more. This picture is me realizing what Mr. Grisbee told me earlier today "It'll be harder to change things on the other computer" something like that. So i decided to change things before uploading the file to drive, and so I know what color the shape is I have a copied version on the side. then on the bottom I tried cutting out some of the colored paper.
