Day 3: Sutton

Lots of progress was made today.  I made lots of progress today. Bam. Active NOT passive (right?).

I spent the morning refining the details of my safari shadow box. I ended up deleting the two watering holes and hippo, and adding one big watering hole.  I liked this much better because I was not a fan of the hippo being the center of attention. The perspective also looks more realistic with this new option. I also accidentally added a second row of elephants but ended up liking having two lines of elephants walking in different directions. Lastly, I added a layer of clouds and made sure my sun was ready for the "special treatment" it is going to receive once it has been cut. I am going to look over this once again this evening and will likely be printing this tomorrow morning. We got a lesson on how to use the laser cutter this afternoon so it will be nice to have that fresh in my head for tomorrow morning.

In the late morning, I continued my work on my underwater diorama. It was fun to finally work with something with color. I spent a lot of time adding little details around the border of every other layer. I currently have eight layers (all in different shades of blue) and a bright red mermaid tail.  It turned out much better than my sketch which made me happy. We will be going to the store Monday morning to pick out paper so I will have to wait to print until then. I will definitely continue to work on this tomorrow (cleaning up/adding more detail, maybe playing around with color). As for today, I'm going to take a break on the diorama because I have been staring at it for many, many hours and when I look up from the screen, I still see it.

Today was a really productive day and I look forward to continuing my work on the diorama and printing my shadow box tomorrow!
